Meet Stephany Avina, Psy.D.

Hello! I am a licensed clinical psychologist (PSY34537) and hold both a Master’s and Doctorate degree from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, San Diego. Over several years of serving the San Diego community, I have worked in a wide range of clinical settings, including inpatient facilities, crisis homes, outpatient clinics, group homes, and private practice.

My clinical focus is on supporting children, adolescents, and adults navigating autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, anxiety, depression, daily stressors, grief and loss, life transitions, school and work adjustments, relationship challenges, emotional and social difficulties, peer and friendship dynamics, identity development, and parenting or parent-child relationship concerns.

While I specialize in Strengths-Based Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I tailor my approach to meet the unique needs of each client. I am passionate about creating a welcoming and encouraging environment where every client is valued for their individual experiences and circumstances. Beyond my clinical work, I actively contribute to the community as a board member of Mentoring Autistic Minds and maintain professional affiliations that support my practice.

Meet Kristal Mendoza, AMFT

Hi there! I’m a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT 160371). I hold a master’s degree in clinical counseling from Point Loma Nazarene University and a bachelor’s degree in education from San Diego State University.

I’m passionate about supporting individuals, teens, and families as they navigate challenges and move toward healing and emotional well-being. I’ve provided mental health services across multiple clinical settings with children, adolescents, adults, and court-involved clients, and have experience working with concerns such as trauma, anxiety, depression, identity issues, family conflict, and life transitions. I’ve worked extensively with diverse and underserved populations, including Latinx and LGBTQIA+ communities and low-income families.

My approach is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and client-centered, integrating evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT, mindfulness, play therapy, and family systems interventions. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, empowered, and able to grow at their own pace. I am currently under the supervision of Dr. Stephany Avina (PSY34537), a licensed clinical psychologist.
Meet Artis Jemison, ACSW

Hi! I’m an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW) in San Diego, CA. I earned my Master of Social Work from Walden University and my Bachelor’s in Sociology from California State University San Marcos. I aim to help clients improve their mental health, find stability, and reach their personal goals with kindness and respect.

I have experience working with a variety of people, especially from diverse and underserved backgrounds, including those without stable housing, veterans, and students facing life-changing challenges. I support individuals dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, and stress, meeting them where they are and listening to their stories.

I use a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach that includes methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help with both emotional healing and practical needs. I believe that a strong, trusting relationship is key to healing, so I work to create a supportive and safe space where clients feel empowered throughout their journey. I am currently under the supervision of Dr. Stephany Avina (PSY34537), a licensed clinical psychologist.
